CSSD Announces Non-Custodial Parent (NCP) Employment Program

New program assists non-custodial parents who are unemployed to find gainful employment

The Office of the Attorney General, Child Support Services Division (CSSD) has partnered with the Educational Data System, Inc. (EDSI)–a workforce development company. The objective of the program is to assist non-custodial parents who are unemployed to find gainful employment. The program will provide participants employment-related services, including but not limited to in-depth assessments, referrals to job training programs, job placement programs, and career counseling programs. The Non-Custodial Program will also refer participants to other services including but not limited to parenting time classes, drug abuse counseling, and alcohol abuse counseling as needed. Eligibility for the program will be determined by a CSSD Community Outreach Program Specialist who will interview prospective participants.

Participants can be enrolled in the program either through a referral from the family court or a CSSD staff person. While participants are enrolled and actively involved in the program, they may be eligible for reduced child support orders as well as suspension of enforcement activities such as license suspension and credit bureau reporting, etc. Through periodic monitoring by the Court and the CSSD case specialist, participants will be placed on a track to achieve stable employment and income and thereby contributing regularly to their children both emotionally and financially.
