Obtaining Information About Your Case

Instructions for Requesting a PIN Number

CSSD personnel cannot give PIN information over the telephone, so the information is always mailed to the address on file for the person requesting the PIN.  After requesting a PIN, please allow five to seven business days for it to arrive in the mail.

Customers may request that their PIN number be sent by following these instructions:

  • Dial CSSD’s main customer service number (202) 442-9900
  • Press “1” for English, or “2” for Spanish
  • Press “1” for information on a specific case
  • Enter your social security number at the prompt
  • The next prompt will ask for a PIN, then it will say “if you don’t know your PIN, please press the pound (“#”) key, now”, press “#”
  • Press “1” to have your PIN number mailed to you

Internet
Customers may also request their PIN number from any computer that has access to the internet by following these instructions:

  • Go to the Online Case Lookup Login Page
  • Select the “New User Registration” button
  • Select the “Request PIN” button
  • Enter the required information, and select the “Submit Request” button
